Sir Peter Stothard named as final panellist for Trust’s latest impartiality review
The BBC Trust has today announced that Sir Peter Stothard has been appointed as the third and final member of an independent panel commissioned to oversee the Trust’s latest impartiality review on the BBC’s use of statistics.
Sir Peter, who is the Editor of the Times Literary Supplement and former Editor of The Times, will join Director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies, Paul Johnson, and former UK National Statistician Dame Jil Matheson who is to Chair the panel.
The Trust has also announced that Sir David Spiegelhalter, Winton Professor for the Public Understanding of Risk and Professor of Biostatistics, at the University of Cambridge, will support the independent panel as an Advisor.
The Trust’s impartiality review on the BBC’s use of statistics in its News and Current Affairs programming launched on 11 June and will look at whether the BBC is providing audiences with impartial reporting of statistics in its news and current affairs programming across network radio, television, online and selected output in the Nations.
The review will publish in summer 2016.
