What is Black History Month?

Black History Month was introduced in 1987 and is celebrated each year in October.
It aims to remember moments in history and the achievements black people have made in the United Kingdom and the rest of the world.

Why do we celebrate Black History Month?
This year’s theme for Black History Month is “Reclaiming Narratives”.
In the past, people didn't always give credit to black people for their contributions to art, writing, sports, business, politics and many other things.
This year, we are learning more about these important achievements and telling the stories that haven't always been told. It's time to celebrate the incredible things black people have done in the UK and all around the world!
