Phone: If a DJ asks for callers or we are running competitions we usually use the number 03700 100 100 (standard geographic charges apply). At other times, sending a text or email is the best idea as the phone line is not always manned and your call is unlikely to be answered.

How can I find the weekly playlist and charts for BBC 1Xtra?

How can I, as an artist, get 1Xtra to play my music?

If you’d like to submit music for the music team at 1Xtra to listen to you can send digital files and / or weblinks to the following e-mail address:

Alternately, if you think your music will appeal to a particular presenter you can send emails with digital files or weblinks to individual presenters and shows. Email addresses for a selection of individual programmes can be found via the 'Contact' link on programme web pages.

Unfortunately, due to the high volume of music we receive from people we cannot give feedback on the music sent to us.

Can I listen to 1Xtra outside the UK?

You can listen to 1Xtra online anywhere in the world, but you will not be able to pick up BBC stations broadcasting on MW and DAB very far from UK shores. They are funded by the UK licence fee and the BBC is not permitted to re-broadcast them from other countries.

How do I send you my music to listen to?

BBC 1Xtra is committed to supporting new black artists.

If you are a new band, singer/songwriter or bedroom producer and think your music deserves to be heard by more people then we want to hear from you. Submit your music using the the BBC Introducing Uploader.

By submitting your music to us through the BBC Introducing Uploader, you are giving yourself the chance of getting played out on BBC 1Xtra, across other BBC Radio stations, and maybe even playing at one of the BBC 1Xtra or BBC Introducing stages.

You can also submit music by emailing [email protected] – please include download links and some information on you and the release. Unfortunately, we aren't able to give feedback on individual tracks, but we’ll give it a listen and play it if we like it!
